Kathleen Marie Garver was born on December 31, 1948 in Long Beach, California. Her parents, Hayes and Rosemary, have three other children, Beverly, Hayes Jr., and Lance. Kathy attended Pacific High School and graduated from UCLA in 1970.
Kathy's first film was at age 6. She was noticed by director Cecil B. DeMille while filming The Ten Commandments where he had special scenes written into the film to highlight her. Kathy was a freshman majoring in speech at UCLA when she tested for the role for Cissy on The Family Affair which she played for five years. In 1971 she went to Israel where she performed stage shows. After that she continued her studies at the London Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
Kathy married business and videocassette production executive David Travis in 1981. Their son, Reid, was born in 1991. Kathy has served on the board of the Young Peoples Committee at the Screen Actors Guild and is involved is such charities as Child Help, Family Service, and the Humane Society. She is also a partner in a toy company, Edutainment For Kids, where she helps design, produce and manufacture pre-school electronic toys.
