- Biography -

Glenda C. Finkelstein was born on June 13, 1963 in Tampa, Florida. Growing up in the heart of the civil rights movement, women's lib, Viet Nam, and the cold war, she has strong convictions about people and her country. She despises racism, hatred, and discrimination of any kind. She is proud to be an American, and supports our armed forces regardless of whether she agrees with government policy. Her family members have served this country in wartime and in peacetime with honor covering four of the five branches of service.

Although she is an only child, she was not spoiled with material things, as her parents were very poor when she was growing up. She had to help in the garden, and with the orchids her father grew to sell to florists. She is also an animal lover having had three dogs, and now cats. In school, she was a good student obtaining honor roll in Junior and Senior High Schools, a member of the National Honor Society, and graduating in the top five percent of her graduating class. She was also trained as a classical pianist winning many awards at local, state, and national levels. Glenda was preparing for international competition when she had a change of career plans.

She entered the work force in 1981 working for Smalley Transportation Company starting off as a file clerk and moving on to Accounts Payable Supervisor. She decided to go back to school in 1983 attending night classes at Hillsborough Community College where she met her husband, Tony, in World History class. The couple was married in 1984. Upon saying I do, she became, not only a wife, but also a step mom of two: a boy, 5 years old, and a girl, 3 years old.

In 1987 she gave birth to her first child, a boy and in 1990 a baby girl. After the birth of her daughter, she realized that her baby girl was different and was finally diagnosed as being Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder along with many other medical problems. For those who debate whether A.D.H.D. is real or not, it is an experience that must be lived to understand. It was then in 1992 that out of a need to escape the enormous pressures of having a child with disabilities that Glenda began to return to her first love, writing. She spent several years writing three novels that have never been published refining her talent, sending out query letters, and receiving tons of rejections. Until in 1998 when she was picked up by a Canadian publisher. However, eighteen months later the publisher locked their doors and her novel, "Battle Cry," remained unpublished.

In 2000 her husband turned her on to another publisher, who published, "Warning: Living is Dangerous to Your Health," followed the next year by, "Battle Cry." Since then she has had a steady list of titles, has received numerous awards, and has appeared on television and radio talk shows with local and international coverage. She has also become an advocate for families dealing with disabilities. Through a lot of trial and error, persistence, patience and love Glenda's daughter is now herself a member of the National Honor Society and is making a true success of her life.

Glenda is a woman of family and faith, pouring her passions into everything she does, from novel writing to screen writing and voice acting. She is not afraid to stretch herself into new realms. She draws heavily from her interests in geology, archeology, history, nature, and space exploration to infuse reality into her make-believe worlds. She travels the country to meet her fans face to face, maintains a day job, spends time with her family, and has found a sense of center from her new hobby of creating a peace garden.
