Elke Jeinsen was born on July 25, 1968 in Stockholm, Sweden and grew up in Hanover, Germany. In 1986 Elke won the title of Miss Hanover and went on to be first runner-up to Miss Germany. A week later she was contacted by Playboy to be a Playmate. After some hesitation she became Playboy Germany's Miss October 1986. Elke then started modeling worldwide.
In 1992 Elke was modeling for a German sportswear company doing a shoot in the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas. Having some free time afterwards, she went to Los Angeles for a week and found an agent who sent her to playboy to do a test shoot. Before the shoot was even over, photo editor Marilyn Grabowski came in and said, "Congratulations, you're a playmate." As Miss May 1993, Elke was the first to be published in all 19 editions of Playboy worldwide.
Elke traveled between the U.S. and Europe until 1995 when she moved to Los Angeles and put all her energy into acting. She landed her first big part on Baywatch where she continued to make guest appearances for two years before becoming a regular.
Elke has studied martial arts since 1996 and has earned her black belt. She has recorded a CD, "Elketronics", with Henri Mancini's son Chris. In February 2000 Elke finally got her green card so she can focus her efforts on her career. Residing in Los Angeles, Elke does miss Germany and has kept her house there. She spends her free time with her two Chihuahuas, one of which came with her from Germany, and two Persian cats when she is not riding her horse or sitting in front of the computer answering fan mail. And for sure she doesn't miss any of Hef's parties at the Playboy mansion.
